1485263 Cross-linkable vinyl chloride polymers DOW CORNING Ltd 15 July 1974 [17 July 1973] 33902/73 Heading C3P Cross-linkable polymers are obtained by reacting (i) polyvinyl chloride or a vinyl chloride copolymer containing at least 50 mole per cent vinyl chloride, with (ii) an organosilane of formula in which: R is an organic radical linked to silicon through an Si-C bond, said radical containing less than 20 carbon atoms and being composed of C, H, N and optionally O, and containing at least one amino or imino group; R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-9 monovalent hydrocarbon radical; X is a C 1-6 alkoxy or alkoxyalkoxy radical, or an oxime radical having less than 14 carbon atoms; and n is 0 or 1. Typical organosilanes are The products are cross-linked by exposure to water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst, of which many are specified. In examples, cross-linking is effected by immersion in an aqueous emulsion containing dibutyltin dilaurate.
