Abstract
1451288 Stripping copy sheets XEROX CORP 26 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973] 8732/74 Heading B8R In a xerographic machine, Fig. 1 (not shown), where the developed electrostatic image is transferred from the photoconductive surface 12 to a copy sheet by means of a transfer roller (17) which is electrically biased to assist transfer of toner particles to the copy sheet, a detacking corona discharge device 23, Fig. 2, is positioned after the transfer station to strip the copy sheet from the surface 12. The device 23 is continuously supplied with high voltage A.C., e.g. from transformer 30, alternately biased with a first D.C. source, e.g. battery 32, while acting on the leading edge of a copy sheet to provide a net charge thereon of opposite polarity to the charge holding the copy sheet on the surface, and then with a second D.C. source, e.g. battery 34, while acting on the main body of the copy sheet to provide a reduction in the effective force holding the sheet to the surface 12, the resulting charge being sufficient to prevent re-transfer of toner and insufficient to produce discharge to ground through the machine.
