Abstract
1444136 Working stone ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 7 Sept 1973 [8 Sept 1972] 42146/73 Heading B5E [Also in Division El] A concrete structure, such as a wall, column, floor or beam, is broken by applying a bending stress thereto by means of an hydraulic static load applying device, such as an hydraulic jack, having a loading head for bearing against the structure and means for bearing against a separate adjacent concrete structure to restrain the reaction force. The jack 4 (Fig. 2) may be mounted on a wheeled truck 1 and has a small loading head 3 at one end and a larger reaction pad 7 at the other end for engaging the floor below that being broken; a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) has the jack horizontal for breaking walls. The jack 25 (Fig. 10) may be mounted by a universal joint 30 on the end of an extensible and pivotally elevatable boom 22 on a bulldozer 21, so that the jack may be positioned for breaking walls (as shown) or floors (Fig. 9, not shown); the bulldozer may also incorporate a horizontal turntable on which the boom is mounted (Fig. 12, not shown). In a non-mobile embodiment, the jack 60 is held against a beam or column 70 (Fig. 13) by a support frame 64 which is connected by tie-rods 66 to a reaction frame 65 bearing against an adjacent beam or column 71. The fluid pressure supply to the jack in each case may be remote controlled.
