Abstract

1444063 Composite material BOHLER & CO AG Gebr 13 June 1974 [19 June 1973] 26238/74 Heading C7A [Also in Divisions B3 and E1] A roll plated material comprises a base metal of an austenitic manganese steel and a plating metal of an alloy or an austenitic steel other than austenitic manganese steel. The base metal consists, by weight, of 0.1 to 1.2%C, 12 to 30% Mn, 0.1 to 5.0% Si, zero to 0.04% P, zero to 0.5% S, zero to 14% Cr, zero to 3% Nb, zero to 3% V, zero to 0.5% N and Fe and unavoidable impurities. A sheet bar of an austenitic manganese steel and a sheet bar of a plating metal are provided with at least one ground surface and are then welded together with the ground surfaces in contact. The welded sheet bars are rolled into a composite sheet in the temperature range 850-1300‹C and are solution annealed above 960‹C and then rapidly cooled by quenching in water.
