Abstract

1329694 Laminates COURTAULDS Ltd 1 Jan 1971 [2 Oct 1969] 48429/69 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] A laminate comprises a fibrous non-woven fabric stitch-bonded by parallel rows of chain stitch and a substrate bonded to the fabric on the surface bearing the exposed stitch loops. The substrate is a bonded or unbonded fibrous web, a non-woven fabric or a sheet of foamed elastomer. When the latter is used, it is bonded to the fabric by using its own adhesive properties or by means of a natural or synthetic latex adhesive. The non-woven fabric may comprise a blend of staple fibres of regenerated cellulose and nylon, or fibres in continuous filament form. The fibres may be arranged randomly or orientated longitudinally or laterally of the fabric. Stitch-bonding may be effected on an "Arachne" machine using nylon yarn.
