Abstract

1301651 Glazing MULTIGLASS Ltd and C P REDDROP 8 Jan 1970 [8 Oct 1968] 47706/68 Heading E1R A multi glazed unit has panes 10, 11, 12 spaced apart by hollow spacers 13, with holes 16 communicating with the inter-pane spaces and filled with desicant material, the outer pane 10 having an outer sheet covered on its inner face with a layer of bismuth oxide and a layer of gold 2 Î 10<SP>-7</SP> inches thick deposited thereon and a further sheet layed over the gold layer which is connected to a source of electrical energy by leads (25, 26). The gold layer (18) is deposited in four sections which are connected in series with the leads (25, 26). The whole assembly of plates is encircled by a frame 15 and the peripheral space between the spacers 16 and the frame is filled with a sealing compound 14. The unit is used in cold storage &c doors where it is desirable to observe the interior from without, the heating element preventing condensation on the unit outer surface.
