Abstract

The system is for converting existing singly glazed windows into triple glazed units, and uses a double or multiple glazed factory made sash (5) which is fixed to the exterior of the existing window frame (3). A peripheral seal (17) is provided between the conjuctive faces (1a,13a) of the secondary glazing panel and the existing glazing. The secondary glazing is mounted in a frame (7) which is fixed (9) to the existing frame (3) again with the interposition of a peripheral seal (11). The seals are of elastomeric strip and those between the panes (12,13) of the secondary panel include a dehydrosing agent (14). The space (16) between the secondary and existing glazing may be dehydrated during installation, or alternatively the relavant seal may also includes a dehydrating agent.
