Abstract

1358003 Tamperproof closures F LANCESSEUR 4 May 1972 [4 May 1971 23 Sept 1971 1 March 1972] 20857/72 Heading B8T A tamperproof closure is formed by means of a stopper 6 and a protective capsule 10, a disc 12 of the capsule engaging with its edge a groove 9 of the stopper 6 and being joined by frangible bridges 13 to the remainder of the capsule. To remove the closure from a bottle 1 the outer part of the capsule must first be taken off, thereby breaking the bridges 13. The stopper may have an inner sealing skirt (16), Fig. 7 (not shown), and the cap groove (9) may face axially of the cap, Fig. 12 (not shown). The groove may be formed in an axially projecting rib (24), Fig. 16 (not shown); or the frangible bridges (13) may join saw-teeth (28), Fig. 19 not shown), on the capsule. The stopper may have an internal screw-thread, the arrangement being that the bridges (13) break only when the capsule is rotated anticlockwise.
