Abstract

1,230,207. Detachable melt-spinning nozzle assemblies. ERSTE MASCHINENFABRIK KARL MARX STADT. VEB. 14 Nov., 1968, No. 54015/68. Heading B5B. A device for facilitating the insertion and withdrawal of spinning nozzle assemblies in melt-spinning apparatus as shown in the drawing (which represents a cross-section of the spinning beam of a melt-spinning apparatus) comprises a lever 4 which is provided with a recess to accommodate a spinning nozzle assembly 7 and can be inserted in the recess 2 of the spinning beam 1. The recess 2 is delimited at the bottom by a plate 3 which at the same time provides a sliding surface when the lever 4 is being inserted in or withdrawn from the recess 2. To define the distance which the lever 4 carrying the assembly 7 must be inserted in the recess 2 a transverse pin or bar 8 is fixedly mounted on the plate 3 at the inner end of the aperture 2 and functions as a combined stop and fulcrum of the lever 4. A vertical guide pin 9 is fixedly mounted in the transverse bar 8 and is a close sliding fit in an open-ended slot at the inner end of the lever 4. It thus serves as a means by which the spinneret assembly 7 is guided into its operative position underneath the outlet of the melt feed duct 10 of the spinning beam 1. A bolt 5 pivotally mounted on the beam 1 and provided with a nut 6, serves to enable the inlet of the polymer melt duct in the spinneret assembly 7 accommodated by lever 4 to be urged against and into liquid-tight engagement with the outlet and of the feed duct 10. To connect the swing bolt 5 with the lever 4 the latter is provided with a fork-shaped recess at the end which projects from the recess 2. The melt inlet of the spinneret assembly 7 is provided with a sealing ring 11 and its lateral bearing surfaces of the assembly are cambered in order to ensure that the plane of the sealing ring 11 is parallel and in alignment with the outlet of the feed duct 10. Alternatively, the walls of the recess in the arm 4 in which the assembly 7 is located may be cambered, the walls of the assembly being straight. The plate 3 is provided with an aperture 12 through which the melt spun filaments can travel. In order to insert the spinneret assembly 7 into its operating position in the recess 2, the assembly 7 is inserted into its seat in the lever 4 and the lever 4 inserted lengthwise in the recess 2 by sliding it over the plate 3 until it engages the transverse bar or pin. The swing bolt 5 is then guided into the forked outer end of the lever 4 and the melt inlet of the assembly 7 with its sealing ring forced into liquid tight engagement against the outlet of the feed duct 10.
