Abstract

1,213,696. Vehicle bumpers. ROOTES MOTORS Ltd. 23 April, 1969 [23 April, 1968], No. 19180/68. Heading B7J. [Also in Division F2] A motor vehicle " wrap round " bumper 10 has its transverse portion anchored to the vehicle at at least two positions 11, and wrap round ends 12 supported from the vehicle sides by pegs or bosses 15 extending laterally from the vehicle side and engaging in slots 16 provided in brackets 17 on the inner faces of the bumper ends. The slots 16 are open-mouthed towards the free ends of the bumper, Fig. 2, and engage respectively in one of a series of circumferential grooves 18 in the boss, Fig. 4. The boss 15 which is of flexible plastics or other material and has a shank 20 of hollow square section divided at the corners to form four legs, is hollow and contains a pin 21 which is forced between the legs of the shank 20 to hold the boss in place in a hole in the vehicle side panel 14.
