Abstract

A frame extension 19 of a vehicle passenger compartment is locally weakened by grooves 23, 27 and holes 24 so that in a collision deformation at these zones dissipates the collision energy without materially affecting the passenger compartment. The holes 24 preferably diminish in size towards the compartment.
