Abstract

1,213,675. Levels. B.I.G. (CONCESSIONAIRES) Ltd. July 10, 1968 [Feb. 27, 1968], No. 9452/68. Heading G1F. A spirit level comprises a body member containing at least one vial unit rigidly cemented therein, each vial unit comprising a filled and sealed vial 2, and a hollow cylindrical support member 1, the support member 1 having holes 4 into which the ends of the vial are fixed. The edges of the member 1 are undercut to receive clear plastic windows 3 and the vial 2 may be arcuate in shape, as shown, or may be cylindrical with a barrel-shaped bore therein. An alternative embodiment is also described in which a vial is mounted in a semicylindrical support member, equivalent to removal of the top half of the member 1. This vial unit may be mounted for viewing from above in the top surface of a level body.
