A stainless ferrite-austenitic steel consists, in per cent by weight, of C 0À02-0À12 Si 0À1-1 Mn 0À1-2 N 0À1 max Cr 20-30 Ni 4-8 Mo 1-2À5 Nb such that total Nb-Nb C bound to N # 8 Fe and impurities-balance. The steel is particularly resistant to intercrystalline corrosion.
