Abstract
1,201,363. Water-cooled cylinder heads. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT AND SOC. INDUSTRIELLE ET COMMERCIALE DES AUTOMOBILES PEUGOT. Oct. 5, 1967 [Nov.8, 1966], No.45588/67. Heading F1B. The centres a, b, of the inlet and exhaust valve ports of an overhead cam-shaft engine lie on a line inclined at an angle of 40 degrees to 60 degrees to the longitudinal plane A B through the cylinder axes. The valve stems are inclined to the longitudinal plane and the inlet and exhaust passages 2, 4 are cooled by cooling chambers 13, 14. The exhaust passage 4 is surrounded by chambers 21, 22, which widen outwardly towards the side of the cylinder to facilitate casting. A control chamber 24 connected to the chambers 21, 22, widens upwardly and is closed by a cap 25. The chambers 21, 22, are sealed by a plate 29 in which is formed a longitudinal cooling liquid outlet passage 28<SP>2</SP>. The bearings 33, 34, for the cam-shaft and rocker shaft are cast in the head.
