Abstract

1296515 Sewing machine CENTRE D'ETUDES TECHNIQUES DES INDUSTRIES DE L'HABILLEMENT 18 Feb 1970 [28 Feb 1969] 7883/70 Heading D1G [Also in Division B8] A sewing installation comprises a sewing machine 1 having no feed dog, a table 4, a machine drive 12, a device 3 for conducting work to be stitched to the entrance edge of the table, a work feeding device 41, a device 19 for lowering the presser foot 18 as the work approaches it a thread cutter 22 and its actuator 23 for cutting the thread after the work has been stitched and a device 52, 53, 57 (see Division B8) receiving and stacking the completed work. A pneumatic system for operating the machine and the devices in sequence, following the initial depression of a pedal (72) is described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown). After work has been fed to the machine by a belt 3 a detector 61 senses the leading edge of the work and initiates the lowering of the presser foot, connection of the motor clutch by a ram 16 to start the machine, advancement of fork 41, its lowering on to the work and its retraction to feed the work past the sewing needle. When detector 61 detects the training edge of the work the motor clutch is disengaged, and presser foot 18 raised. Continuing retraction of the part 63 of the fork carriage operates in turn switches 64, 65, to respectively, operate thread cutter 23 and operate ram 53 to rotate the tray 52, on which the work has fallen through slot 8, through 180‹ to drop the work on to a tray 57. Switch 65 also stops the ram 48 driving the fork.
