Abstract

1281543 Releasable fastenings S J DIAMOND (ENG) Ltd 20 Aug 1970 [20 May 1969] 25544/69 Heading E2A A bolt has a shoot 2 which is slidable in a bore 4 of a barrel 1 and is engageable with a keeper 3. Annular members 17, 18 and a spring 22a are mounted on the shoot 2, the annular member 17 being received in a transverse slot 8 formed in the barrel 1, the annular member 18 being received in a transverse slot 9 formed in the barrel 1, and the spring 22a being received in an annular recess 22 formed in the member 17. The shoot is provided with integral keys 13, the members 17 and 18 are each provided with a keyway 19, and the barrel 1 is provided with a keyway 5 so that, when the keyways 19 and 5 are in alignment, the shoot may be moved into the position shown in Fig. 2, by means of an operating handle 20 which is screwed into a screw-threaded hole 16 in the shoot 2. The annular members 17, 18 have equi-spaced lines 25' thereon, with identification symbols therebetween, and co-operate with equi-spaced lines 26 and symbols formed on the barrel 1 to allow a known combination to be applied when the alignment of the keyways is to be effected to allow the movement of the shoot into or out of the keeper 3. The members 17, 18 are recessed at 23, Fig. 3, so that when in alignment with recess 5 militate against inward movement of the shoot 2. Mounting holes 10, 11 and 12 are provided in the barrel 1 and mounting holes 10 and 24 are provided in the keeper 3, the holes 11, 12 and 24 being covered by the shoot when in the position shown in Fig. 2.
