Abstract

1,269,783. Packages. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. 13 Aug., 1970 [20 Aug., 1969], No. 41478/69. Headings B8C and B8P. A package for tobacco comprises an inner plastics tray 10 trapped within an outer carton 12. The tray 10 has a flange 14 to which is sealed a moisture impervious foil or film sheet 11 having a tearing flap 16. The carton 12 has a lid 13 having extension panels 27 and 28 which, in the closed position, overlie the front 24 and part of the base 22 of the carton respectively, panel 28 having a tab 29 with embossed protuberances 31 which passes through a slot 30 to frictionally engage between the base 22 of the carton and a projection 15 on the bottom of the trap. The flange 14 of the tray is trapped beneath side flaps 33 of the carton and rests on a front flap 34, to which it may be adhesively secured. Stripes of adhesive 35 may secure the bottom of the tray to the base 22 of the carton.
