Abstract
1,267,554. Thermal switches. MATSU. SHITA DENKO K.K. 19 Nov., 1969 [25 Nov., 1968 (2); 29 Nov., 1968], No. 56579/69. Heading H1N. A sealed thermal switch for use in fire-detection alarm systems &c. comprises a bimetal disc (1, Fig. 4) in thermally conductive engagement at normal temperatures with a metal casing part 4 carrying a heat collecting plate H provided with apertures, slits &c. 21, Fig. 6A, to improve the rate of heat transfer. The bimetal disc 1 snaps upwards when heated to move a spring arm contact 5, 6 into engagement with a fixed contact 7. Terminal wires 8, 9 are sealed in the casing part 2 and hold the assembly in position under projections 16a, 16b of a ceiling mounting B having terminals (not shown) to which the wires 8, 9 are soldered. The disc 1 rests in three recesses such as 3c of integral lugs 3a, 3c (3b) (not shown), of the casing part 2.
