Abstract
1,122,954. Valves. E. W. E. MICKLETHWAIT (Pressure Products Industries Inc.). 7 April, 1966, No. 15595/66. Heading F2V. A movable closure member 16 is lifted when a pressure difference occurs between an inlet 18 and an outlet 32 to unseat a sealing ring 35 from a face 17 to connect the inlet and outlet via axial passages 26, radial passages and an axial bore 23. The face of the closure member 16 inwardly of the ring 35 is provided with radial grooves 36; the latter may be formed in the face 17. The passages 26 are formed by flats 21 on the inlet part of the closure-member periphery: the outlet portion 19 is cylindrical and has a sliding fit in the body bore. A spring in the bore 23 urges the closure member to the closed position. The valve may be employed as a pump inlet or delivery valve.
