Abstract

1,121,519. Centrifugal casting-machines. CENTRE DE RECHERCHES DE PONT-AMOUSSON. 9 Jan., 1967 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 1127/67. Heading B3F. A centrifugal casting machine for casting iron pipes having a socket at one end comprises a nozzle 6 arranged inside the socket core N for blowing by compressed air a powdered coating material, e.g. ferrosilicon, on to the surface of a rotatable mould 1. Compressed air is fed through a flexible pipe 11 to an electro-valve D and then to a tank 9 containing the powder, which tank is connected to the nozzle by pipe 8. The core N is mounted on a support S pivotable on an arm B. The mould 1 is mounted on a carriage (2), (Fig. 1, not shown), and in operation the electro-valve D is automatically operated as the carriage (2) moves towards a pouring trough (A) so as to coat the mould and the molten metal is poured as the carriage (2) is retracted.
