Abstract

In iron disilicide the iron may be replaced by up to 10 mol per cent Co, Ni, Cr or Mn whilst silicon may be replaced by up to 10 mol. per cent Al or Ga. Alloys of FeSi2 containing 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 CoSi2 or 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 FeAl2 are disclosed together with the systems Fe1- x Crx Si2; Fe1- x Mnx Si2; FeSi2- y Aly;FeSi2- y Gay and (Fe1- x Crx) Si2- y Gay wherein x and y are 0.01-0.1.
