Abstract

1,111,778. Caps for bottles. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 9 Dec., 1966 [20 Dec., 1965]. No. 55195/66. Heading B8T. A dispensing cap 22 rotatable on the neck 11 of a bottle 10 has concentric inner and outer skirts 26, 25 fitting on each side of the neck, an axial slot 32 through the inner skirt connecting in the open position shown with a groove 15 in the neck which then connects with a hole 34 in the cap top 24. Turning the cap 22 shuts the groove 15 in the bottle neck &c. Rotation of the cap is limited by an axial ridge (31), Figs. 7, 8 (not shown), inside the outer skirt 25, snapping from one to the other of two grooves (17, 19) up the outside of the neck 11, to hold the cap in open or shut position. The hole 34 in the cap top is flared outwardly; more than one hole 34, &c. may be provided. A bead 28 inside the outer skirt is snapped into a groove 13 around the neck, to hold the two together. The cap 22 may be of plastics &c., and the bottle 10 of metal, plastics &c.
