Abstract

1,178,398. Valves. MARTONAIR Ltd. 9 Aug., 1967 [9 Aug., 1966], No. 35557/66. Heading F2V. A fluid control valve 6 is biased by a spring 8 to close port 2 and allow communication between ports 3 and 4. Actuation of solenoid 7 moves the valve to the position shown closing port 3 and allowing communication between ports 2 and 4 and the valve will remain in this position due to the fluid pressure differential thereon being greater than the spring returning force even when the solenoid is de-energized. An increase in pressure at port 3 by a solenoid actuated valve will move the valve to close port 2 where it will remain until the solenoid 7 is re-energized. A movable permanent magnet can replace the solenoid or the valve member can be an electromagnet or permanent magnet which is actuated by a movable piece of magnetic material.
