A neutron source uses one of the reactions T (d, n) 4 He or D (d, n) 3 He or D (t, n) 4 He A pulsed laser beam is focused on a titanium electrode impregnated with either deuterium or tritium. Ions of deuterium or tritium are emitted and accelerated by an electric field between the electrode and the cathode target containing tritium or deuterium.
