Abstract

1,171,831. Controlling burners. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES Ltd. 26 Jan., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 6313/67. Heading F4T. The control circuit of a gas burner ignition system having a pilot burner supplied with gas through a solenoidoperated valve 16 and ignited by an electrically heated coil 17 includes a flame detector switch 18 operated by a thermostat or mercury capsule 29 in the path of the pilot flame and a safety switch 20 in the form of a switch which is closed when there is a potential across the pilot valve solenoid coil 15 and is operated by the solenoid armature or the magnetic field of the solenoid coil. Alternatively the switch 20 is a simple relay switch in series or in parallel with the solenoid 15 or an electronic switch such as a thyristor.
