Abstract

1,153,411. Vacuum cleaner. M. KUWAHARA. 1 June, 1967 [21 Oct., 1966], No. 25435/67. Heading A4F. A vacuum cleaner comprising a dust collecting chamber 7 and a motor driven fan 23 arranged in a casing is provided with an additional fan 29 which directs air through a passage (d) (Fig. 2, not shown) of such a shape as to provide a Venturi effect which supplements the suction effect of the fan 23. The fans 23, 29 may be driven by a common motor 15 mounted in a tubular housing 13 which is so shaped at one of its ends 16 to co-operate with a partition 8 as to form an annular nozzle 17 which directs air to the passage (d) for producing the Venturi effect. The dust collecting chamber 7 which is closable by a hinged lid 2 provided with a suction aperture 5 houses a dust collecting bag 10 which is releasably secured by its rim between the lid 2 and the main body 1 of the casing. The casing is provided with exhaust outlets 25, 26 of which one is closable and with air inlets 30 for the fan 29. An air filter 37 may be provided and an electric cable reel 32 may be housed within the casing.
