Abstract
1,036,677. Gas turbine combustion chambers. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. May 17, 1965, No. 20832/65. Heading F1L. A gas turbine engine cylindrical flame tube 16 has a series of short pipes 26 directing air radially inwards towards a combustion zone 25. Each pipe 26 is welded by a flange 31 at its upstream side to the flame tube wall 22 and is spaced from the wall at its downstream side to form a gap 32 through which air 33 flows to cool the periphery of the pipe. Each pipe extends radially further into the flame tube at its downstream side than at its upstream side.
