Abstract

A metallic cord, Fig. 2 (not shown), has a core 6 consisting of four wires 7 of equal diameter, and a jacket of six wires 8 of equal diameter, the diameter of the core 6 being substantially equal to the diameter of the jacket wires 8. The invention includes a cable made up of two or more of the cords. The wires 7 and 8 may be plated with a non-ferrous metal or may be coated with rubber, synthetic rubber or with any suitable plastic material. One or more metallic or non-metallic elements may be wound helically around the cord to improve the bonding when the cord is embedded in rubber or plastic articles.
