Abstract

1,028,610. Can carriers. FRITZ BUSCH DRUCKEREIGESELLSCHAFT m.b.H. March 25, 1965 [April 1, 1964; Dec. 24, 1964], No. 12711/65. Heading B8C. A holder for flanged containers (Fig. 8) is made from a single cardboard blank and has the longitudinal edge portions 27 and 28 folded inwardly and adhesively secured to the longitudinal sides 22 and 23. Apertures 29 are provided in the longitudinal sides through which the beaded rim or cover of the container may project. The apertures may be large cut-out portions 29 as shown, and may be tapered towards the central panel 21 of the holder, so as to more closely conform to the shape of the container cover. Alternatively they may be just small slots which are made when the side walls 22, 23 are folded downwardly leaving the tabs 31 and 32 level with the central plane 21. The lower edge 34 of the aperture may be provided with cuts or recesses 36 which enable the bottom portion of the wall 22 to fit snugly under the rim or cover. The longitudinal edges of the folded in portions 27 and 28 may coincide with the edges 34 of the apertures, or they may extend slightly above these edges, or, as shown in the Figure, they may extend under the central panel 21. In this latter case the portion of the walls 27, 28 underneath the central panel 21 is not secured thereto and apertures are also provided in the walls 27 and 28 so that the tabs 31 are of double thickness. The holder is assembled about the container either by machine or by hand, by placing the flat blanks on top of the containers and forcing down the wall portions 22 and 23 so that the rims or covers project through the apertures 29.
