Abstract

1,018,127. Two-part couplings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. April 5, 1963 [April 7, 1962], No. 13693/63. Heading H2E. An insulated, elongated strip carrying contacts on both faces is attached to one edge of a printed circuit board to act as a plug-in-member. The elongated strip consists of an insulating material initially having a conductive layer on each face, parts of which layer are removed by etching or electrolytic treatment to leave a plurality of spaced parallel contacts along the length of the strip and on both faces of it. In Fig. 2 a hole is drilled through the strip and the contacts 3, and a wire 4 is passed through the hole and soldered on both sides of the hole at 5 and 6, to contacts 3. The wire 4 is then soldered at 8 to contact 7, on the printed circuit board 2. In modifications two holes are drilled in the strip, Figs. 6 and 9 (not shown), slots are cut in the strip, Figs. 3, 4 and 5 (not shown), the wire is soldered to an upper contact on the printed circuit board, Figs. 4 and 9a (not shown), or passed through a hole in the printed circuit board, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown).
