Abstract
1,017,127. Electric incandescent lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 12, 1964 [Oct. 28, 1963], No. 41547/64. Heading H1F. In a lamp having an elongated tubular envelope with a coiled coil filament extending longitudinally with the ends connected to leadin conductors sealed through opposite ends of the envelope, the filament is in two sections joined and supported by two helical wire portions of a coil diameter and pitch corresponding to those of the secondary coiling of the filament, which extend into the primary coil of the adjacent filament section and which are supported from the inner wall of the envelope by a further wire portion. The latter may be in the form of a loop engaging the wall of the envelope over at least half the periphery. The loop may be combined with or terminate in a leg sealed into the envelope wall e.g. at the exhaust tip. Alternatively, a leg only may be used. The helical support portions may be at the ends of a single wave. Alternatively, the ends of the support portions remote from the filament and the inner end of the supporting wire may be formed as helices of such relative sizes that they can be screwed into one another in overlapping relation.
