Abstract

1,015,258. Induction heating. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G., and ALLGE. MEINE ELEKTRICITAS-GESELLSCHAFT. May 13, 1963 [Sept. 14, 1962], No. 18941/63. Heading H5H. Like pieces 3 cut askew, to minimise waste, from a metal strip, e.g. for the manufacture of spanners, are heated for hot working by reassembling them into the shape of the strip and moving them, in the direction of the longitudinal axis 4 of the strip, through an induction coil 5 the turns 6 of which extend parallel, at least to within 30 degrees, to the longitudinal axis 7 of the pieces. The coil may be of hollow, water-cooled, square-section tubing, with an inner surface formed of asbestos cement or provided with liquid or air-cooled rails.
