Abstract

1,006,056. Cramps. J. GALPIN. July 7, 1964 [July 17, 1963], No. 28311/63. Heading B4W. A cramp comprises four movable angle blocks 1, 2, 3, 4 adapted to engage with the corners of a frame to which tension is to be applied, a tensioning band 7 arranged to pass round three of the blocks and through slots 11 provided one on each side of the block 4, a tensioning block 12 within which one end of the band and a portion intermediate the ends of the band are arranged to be clamped and a take up drum 17 to which the other end of the band is secured, a screw 20 being provided for varying the distance between the tensioning block 12 and the block 4 to adjust the tension applied to the band. The block 12 is provided with two slots 13, 14, one end of the band 7 being arranged to pass through the slot 13 and being held in the slot by a wedge 15 which is held in clamping engagement by a bolt 16. The other end of the band 7 passes freely through the slot 14 to be wound on the drum 17. The screw 20 is rotatably secured in a retaining plate 21 provided on the angled block 4 and passes through a threaded bore in the block 12.
