Abstract
1,097,920. Sampling granular material. MITCHELL ENGINEERING Ltd., and C. A. HOWARD. Dec. 16, 1966 [Dec. 16. 1965]. No. 53532/65. Heading B8N. An apparatus for sampling granular material, such as ore, comprises two delivery shoots 10, 11 so that material being sampled flows through both of them under the action of gravity, a pneumatic ram 13, 15 for moving the shoot 10 relative to the shoot 11 in order to bring them into and out of register during predetermined time intervals, a conveyer 21 for regularly feeding the shoot 10 with the material and a collector 24 for the material flowing from the shoot 10 when both shoots are out of register. The air for the ram is controlled by a solenoidactuated valve which is operated by means of a timer. The inlet to the shoot is varied in size by means of flaps 26 opened or closed via a screw- and-nut device 27, 28.
