Abstract

1,091,507. Pneumatic tyres. PNEUMATIQUES. CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER COLOMBES. Dec. 18, 1964 [Dec. 20, 1963], No. 51679/64. Heading B7C. To obviate ply separation in a pneumatic tyre in which radial cord carcass plies 13 are folded about a bead wire 10 with their edges 13 1 -13 3 radially stepped and the edge 13 1 in the plane of greatest axial width and wherein all the bead reinforcing strips such as a flipper 12 and cord-reinforced strips 16 have their radially outer edges disposed at different radial levels radially inwardly of the ply edges, the bead reinforcing strips and preferably the carcass plies are calendered in rubber mixtures of which the modulus of elasticity at 100% extension is greater than 35 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> A bead cushion 17 has a similar modulus. The flipper 12 and strips 16 preferably arc formed of parallel calendered metal wires extending at between 20 and 45 degrees to the circumferential.
