Abstract

1,044,625. Rotary cutters. MARWIN (ANSTEY) Ltd. Dec. 5, 1962 [Dec. 5, 1961], No. 43493/61. Headings B3C and B3K. A boring or milling tool holder for a multiedged symmetrical cutting-bit 19 comprises at least one recess 11 having an end face 17 determining the axial and radial rake of the bit and means for locating the bit relative to the face, the locating surfaces being mutually perpendicular, one of the surfaces being removable from the holder. The locating means consist of ridges 13 on a body 1 and the edges of recesses 8 in a two-part clamping ring 2. Chip grooves 9, 7 are formed in a body 1 and in the ring 2. Each negative-rake bit is clamped by a wedge 18 engaged by a projection on a sleeve 20 adjusted by a screw 10. When clamped, the cutting-edges of the bits do not contact the holder and recesses 14, 8 accommodate any burr from a used edge.
