Abstract
L'invention concerne un réacteur nucléaire d'un engin spatial à propulsion nucléaire électrique comprenant une cuve logeant de manière étanche une pluralité d'éléments combustibles primaires en contact direct avec un fluide à chauffer, et au moins un logement configuré pour loger un élément combustible secondaire qui n'est pas en contact direct avec le fluide, mais couplé neutroniquement de manière qu'au cours d'une réaction nucléaire initiée, le fluide est chauffé d'une part par convection à partir d'au moins un élément combustible primaire, et d'autre part par rayonnement d'au moins un élément combustible secondaire logé dans un logement vers la paroi du logement refroidie par le fluide logé dans la cuve.
