Description

DISPOSITIF DE RÉCHAUFFAGE DE L'AIR INJECTE DANS UN MOTEUR ADEVICE FOR REHEATING INJECTED AIR IN A MOTOR

COMBUSTION INTERNE
INTERNAL COMBUSTION
The present invention relates to a device for heating the air injected into a distributor of an internal combustion engine.
The invention finds a particularly advantageous application in the field of the automotive industry.
In an internal combustion engine, the crankcase gases, also known as blow-by gases, come from a leak in the piston rings of the engine. A mixture of flue gas, unburned gas and oil flows down the casing and then generally returns to the cylinder head through chimneys. They are then sucked back to the engine intake, this to avoid releases into the atmosphere and keep the bottom of the crankcase in depression. The injection of the blow-by gases is done through a distributor, which is provided with an air connection.
The combustion gases of a mixture of blow-bys consist essentially of water, carbon dioxide and nitrogen, while the unburned gases contain air, fuel and also dinitrogen.
The presence of water in the blow-by gases is particularly harmful because during operation in a cold environment, especially at a temperature below 0 [deg] C, the water vapor contained in the gases can meet the cold air stream of the distributor coming from the air connection, and thus condense to form a water / oil emulsion, and especially to solidify. The blow-by gas freeze causes a real risk of engine failure.
To remedy this difficulty, it is generally proposed to implement in the motor electric heating devices blow-by gas inlet pipes. These devices are most often made of a resistor under tension coming locally to heat the surface of the pipes.
However, this type of solution has a certain number of drawbacks related to the problems of ergonomics for the operator, the passage of tools, and implantation because the attachment points for installing the electrical harnesses, the power connections. and the multiple media needed are not always available in the engine.
Also, the technical problem to be solved by the object of the present invention is to propose a device for heating the air injected into a distributor of an internal combustion engine, said distributor being provided with an air connection, to prevent the gas freeze and that is really effective while ensuring easy integration of the device in the engine.
The solution to the technical problem posed, according to the present invention, in that said device comprises a heating element disposed inside said air connector.
Thus, it is possible to sufficiently heat the air arriving in the connection to no longer cause frost at the intersection of the crankcase gas pipe and this cold vein of the distributor, and thus to eliminate the risk of engine failure. For this purpose, it is provided by the invention that said heating element is calibrated so that the temperature of said gases in the distributor exceeds the solidification temperature of the water.
Furthermore, it is understood that said heating element being integrated in an existing room, namely the air connection, the presence of this additional element has no impact on the size or the engine environment.
On the other hand, the invention advantageously proposes that said heating element comprises a power supply disposed on said connection, or that said heating element comprises a power supply disposed on a housing of said connection, such as a butterfly housing.
In all cases, the connection is integrated into the air connection, which greatly facilitates assembly operations, access tools for mounting and access to the operator for the connection of the electrical harness.
The following description with reference to the accompanying drawings, given as non-limiting examples, will make it clear what the invention consists of and how it can be achieved.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a distributor of an internal combustion engine. Figure 2 is a perspective view of a heating device according to the invention. Figure 3 is a side view of the device of Figure 2.
In Figure 1 is shown a distributor 10 of an internal combustion engine into which are injected through a pipe 30 blow-by gases from the motor housing. Upstream of the intersection of the cold air duct of the distributor 10 and the blow-off pipe 30 is placed an air connector 20 for collecting and introducing outside air into the distributor 10.
In order to heat the air entering the distributor 10 beyond the solidification temperature of the water, and thus prevent the freezing of the water contained in these gases, a heating element 21 is placed inside the air connection, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
The air thus heated to a temperature, such that any risk of freezing and engine failure are greatly limited, prevents frost when it is in contact with the blow-by gas injected.
In order to ensure sufficient thermal contact between the heating element 21 and the air passing through the connection 20, it is advantageous for said heating element to be in the form of a winding substantially covering the section of the connection 20.
This is particularly the case of the embodiment of Figures 2 and 3 wherein the heating element is constituted by a conductive wire wound in a conical shape. It is thus ensured to heat up all the flow of air passing through the fitting.
It can be seen in Figures 2 and 3 the great simplicity of implantation of the heating element 21 without support or screw to provide, which represents a significant economic gain.
The power supply of the heating element 21, not shown, can also be placed on the air connector 20, or on the throttle body 22 shown in FIG. 3, with the same advantages in terms of space requirement. ease of implementation and cost.
