Abstract

The invention relates to a device with an extensible base and in which the area and height of its flat top are variable, applicable for example to the converting of a bench into a stool, the device being characterised in that it comprises a central part (1), hinged beneath which are two lateral seats (2) each provided with an underframe (3); means (5) are provided for stabilising the central element (1) in a horizontal position.

Description

The present invention relates to a device allowing the increase of the surface of a furniture tray by lowering its height and the reduction of this same surface by elevation, which makes it possible to transform a high stool type bar into a bench and screws and versa or a bench stool for children and screws and vice versa.

In this area there are known stools adjustable in height by a central device of the screw-nut or venom type, while according to the invention} symmetrically arranged elements serve both for the enlargement of the central plate during lowering and when raising the latter, to reduce the overall size of the assembly. A base fixed to each of these elements then follows the deformation of the system.

Thus the invention relates to a device with extendable base and surface and height of a variable table top applicable for example to the transformation of a bench into a stool characterized in that it comprises a central part under which are articulated two lateral seats each provided a base, means for holding the central element in a horizontal position being provided.

According to other characteristics: the lateral supports are articulated at a central point located under the central seat.

As a variant: the lateral supports are articulated at two points arranged symmetrically under the central seat on either side of the vertical axis.

On the other hand: the means for holding the seat in the high horizontal position consist of bars or tensioners, one end of which is fixed to one of the two legs and the other end comes to hang in the high position under the central seat at points on each side of the articulation of the lateral elements

According to the simple embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 3) and 4), the device consisting of a central part (1), for example made of folded sheet metal, of two lateral or satellite parts (2) whose tubular framework covered for example with a sheet plate is provided with a rigid base (3) receiving via the tube (4) connecting each of the feet of the same base, the end of each of the tensioners (5)
Under the central part (1) are articulated in its center the two satellite parts (2).

In the low configuration, the tubular frames come into abutment under the central part and therefore keep the satellites in a horizontal position.

The tensioners (5) are fixed to each other on a horizontal plane by head-to-tail attachment as illustrated in FIG. 5 by interlocking of pins (8) in holes (9) opposite.

In the high position, the two satellite parts (2) fold in staggered rows under the central part (1) until the base of one comes into abutment with the frame of the other.

 The two tensioners (5) hang under the central part (1) | ) at opposite points located on each side of the central axis.

To change position, you just have to unlock the tensioners and lift the central part (1) to come from the low position to the high position and bring one of the two satellite parts (2) towards you to obtain the reverse movement.

Figure 6 shows the articulation of the base (3) around the axes (O and O ') symmetrical with interconnection by meshing compass system (7).

Such a device is generally applicable to the production of any support with two stable positions with height variation.
