Abstract

Rack for supporting refractory or ceramic articles in spaced relation during their passage through a firing furnace, has a set of (3) upright supports extending between two end plates, upper and lower to which they are fixed forming a rigid structure. Each upright has a series of inward projections, aligned with those on the other upright forming support surfaces or seats for the articles. In place of projections, lodgements or pierced holes can be used into which inwardly projecting pegs of various shapes, similarly aligned, may be lodged. Used for firing flat tableware. Articles can be slid into place on the projections. The frameworks being rigid can be stacked in the kiln without danger of collapse as in prior art when the supports were merely assembled by gravity and dismantled after completion of firing.
