Abstract

New peptide derivs. are water-soluble cpds. of formulae (III) and (IV) and mixt. of these cpds. in a molar ratio of 4:1. In the formulae X is a gp. RCO and Y is H or RCO; or Y is RCO and X is H or RCO; R is 11-19C alkyl or alkenyl; and the amine acids have the configurations Ala:L, Glu:D, Dap:LL. Also new are the parent peptides of formula (III); X, Y=H) and (IV; X, Y=H) and their 4:1 molar mixture. (III) and (IV) are immunological adjuvants which intensify antibody prodn. and influence delayed hypeisensitivity reactions. They are non-arthrogenic, and exists their adjuvant effect (which is greater than that of the parent peptides in aq. soln. or suspension without the need to administer them in oil soln. (III) and (IV) can thus be used as adjuvants for co-admin. with vaccines and in desensitisation against allergens. They can also be used as nonspecific immunostimulants to increase resistance to infections and in antitumour immunotherapy.
