Abstract

The float is used by a person learning to swim and maintains the body in the correct position, approximately parallel to the water surface, without restricting movements. It comprises a U-shaped body (1) capable of floating under the users weight. The centre portion (2) locates under the chest and the sides (5,51), pass under the armpits and down to thigh level. a harness holds the float in place, a strap (6,7) passing from each side and over the neck. A similar strap (9), with buckles (91) fits at waist level and has intercrossing braces. The thighs rest on a rear strap (8) spanning the sides.
