Abstract

A gear or pulley wheel (3) is freely mounted against a shoulder (2) on a motor driven shaft (1). The end of the shaft has keyways (10) in which register radially sliding keys (4), mounted in slots (5) in an extension of the wheel hub. Normally, a wire spring (7) forces inwards to engage the keyways and transmit drive from shaft to wheel. The extension of the hub is counterbored (13) for the introduction of the handle shaft (11), the latter itself being bored (12) to fit over the end of the main drive shaft. The outer surface of the handle shaft is provided with keyways (15) the same width as those on the main shaft. Both handle shaft and keys are chamfered (16, 17) so that the keys are disengaged from the main drive keyways, when the handle is inserted, the keys then relocating in the handle keyways, coupling the handle to the wheel.
