Abstract

A connection between an underwater pipe laying barge and a floating member supporting the end of the pipe line at the surface of the water includes a cable (49) and a ball joint (41) on an arm (40) on the floating support. The barge has two arms (24) pivoted on horizontal pivots on a plate (21) and kept parallel by a plate (23) fixed between outer pivots. The plate (23) has socket (34) which accepts the ball (41). The cable is attached at the top of the swivel arm (47). As the relative height of the bodes varies, the vertical plate (33) moved upwards or downwards with the ball (41).
