Abstract

Lights, porous buildin- and/or insulating materials are made by mixing one or more finely divided, ceramic, hydraulic or chemically setting materials (I) in the plastic state with an uncured, mechanically foamed two component foam material comprising a foam forming surface active agent (II) and one or more structure materials (III) in aq. dispersion, soln. or emulsion, shaping the mixt. before it is hardened, and depending on the choice of starting materials, drying and firing the mixt. or setting it hydraulically or chemically. Prods. are cheaper and have better compressive strength that prior art porous building materials made e.g. by burning out of occluded organic material (sawdust, coal dust, cork, etc) or by incorporating expanded polystyrene. etc.
