Abstract

The pushchair is used for a young child and can be folded up when not required. It comprises two identical side frames (1, 1', 3, 3', 6, 6') each arm carrying a front wheel (4, 4') sliding on that carrying a rear wheel (5, 5'). The two frames are linked together by cross struts (11, 11', 12, 12') the lower pair forming foot-rests (12). These struts are attached to the front arm sliding joints (2, 2') together with a cross-shaped arrangement of stiffening struts (8, 9). The frame supports a fabric seat and the whole can be folded up by pulling upwards on a centre cord (13, 14) connected to the centre joints of the cross and stiffening struts.
