Abstract

The unit comprises a card reader, a test facility for the read card data, a buffer storing the read card data and an indicator to display the completion of any data recording. The data buffer store and the display of a completed data recording are independent of the continuous result of the card data test with the test facility. Continuous data recording is immediately suspended when a defective character is recognised. A call signal requesting operation via a central unit can be emitted by means of an additional facility as a function of the card data test result "correct".
