Abstract

The train suspension has hydraulic dampers on both sides of each axle, linked by special cross ducts. These link the top part of the one damper with the bottom part of the other, via pressure control valves. The valve permit simultaneous operation of the dampers, while asymmetric movements are heavily suppressed. A compensating line links the fluid reservoirs of the two dampers to ensure like operation. The pressure control valves are incorporated in the bottom parts the damper support housings for simplicity of design and assembly. The system is suitable for high speed trains in which lateral suspension movements have to be heavily suppressed.
