Abstract
The sleeve is in two parts, a metal tubular section (1) having a diameter chosen to provide an easy push fit with the conductor stripped of insulation and an insulated section (4) having a diameter with a low angle (10 deg.) tapered inside section, the diameter being chosen such that the insulation of the cable may be 'jammed' into the sleeve. The tapered insulating section leads the stripped wire into a more steeply angled section (6) in the metal sleeve, the cone half angle (beta) being about 30 deg. The outer surface (3') of the insulated section is shaped to provide a minimum overall geometry.
