Abstract

The virtual memory for the multi-programmable computer comprises a principal memory with selective access to an auxiliary memory, which is divided into segments of variable dimensions. The physical address in the composite system is stored in a register. A memory check determines the space required in the main memory for the segment under examination and surveys the main memory to find the space of lowest dimensions to accept the segment. A comparator checks that the segment subsequently occupies the identity of the segment. A fruther check determines whether the segment transferred is already in the main memory, and whether or not is so too large for available space.
